Late Fall Landscaping Tips for the Bay Area

November is typically the time of year when the rain begins and life in the Bay Area begins to slow down. But that doesn’t mean your landscape stops requiring care. Contrarily, late fall is a great time to start preparing your landscape for the upcoming spring. This is also a good time to plan for changes to your landscape.

If you have a landscape that is beginning to look tired or overgrown it may be time to start thinking about replacing some shrubs or creating a whole new look for your yard.  You might even consider installing new landscaping at this time as the winter rains will help give your new plantings a good start.

If you’re not looking to replace anything, here are a few simple maintenance tips to help keep your landscape looking good year round:

  • V-ditch and gutter cleaning

  • Fall/winter fertilization of plants, flowers and trees

  • Plant winter flowers or bulbs

  • Tree staking

  • Tree pruning

  • Gophers

  • Equipment inventory
